I saw drew's toothpaste book in a Somerville book store the other day. It brought me a little beam of intarweb pride.
Married to the Sea is reminding me of a lot of old Al Jaffee panels that were created from very similar materials. posted by damehex at 10:33 PM on March 5, 2006
Wow, all this time I thought she was Drew's sister. posted by jonson at 10:52 PM on March 5, 2006
Yeah, aren't Drew and Natalie brother and sister? posted by hot soup girl at 10:54 PM on March 5, 2006
Wow... those were all horribly unamusing. Thank god there weren't more of them. Natalie frequently makes me laugh, and Drew's stuff is frequently amusing. I guess they're like the comedy version of vinegar & vanilla, two delicious flavors I enjoy that when mixed together create a horribly unamusing website. posted by jonson at 10:56 PM on March 5, 2006
She's his sister AND his wife posted by growabrain at 10:56 PM on March 5, 2006
That was what they told everyone, a la "The White Stripes". However in an invent drew did with slate it was revealed that they are actually married.
Drew was pretty angry about it but it seems now he doesn't mind so much. They state that they are indeed married on the 'about' section of the new website. posted by Serial Killer Slumber Party at 10:58 PM on March 5, 2006
I don't see any real difference between "toothpaste" and "married." In both, the pictures are meaningless. You can swap the pictures at random and nothing much will change.

i thought they were brother and sister for so long... what a bunch of jerks.

Sheesh, there have got to be scripts out there that could grab random imagery from the web and produce more interesting one cell comics than that crap. Boo Hiss----- posted by gigbutt at 5:38 AM on March 6, 2006
Yes, but what about the pugs? posted by docgonzo at 5:46 AM on March 6, 2006
I liked the booze time one, but the others were not so interesting to me. I'm not trying to be snarky, I just didn't think they were that clever. Perhaps it's because I'm not already familiar with these people from other things they've done? posted by OmieWise at 5:48 AM on March 6, 2006
WonderMark is in a similar vein, though it's more of a clip-art strip and less of a "funny caption" comic. posted by Sangre Azul at 7:01 AM on March 6, 2006
Next up: They can collaborate on Exploding Dog rip-off drawings with the shockingly creative addition of swear words! Oh wait, she can do that on her own. (oh snap!) posted by clango at 7:08 AM on March 6, 2006
I fully and sincerely loved each and every cartoon in the set with an unmatched and deeply moved passion.
Just being contrary. posted by brownpau at 7:14 AM on March 6, 2006
Careful, all. Drew doesn't like people talking about his work without his permission.
i really think he has a point. we should take the focus off of his lackluster work and start discussing the fact that he's a total crybaby. posted by soma lkzx at 7:42 AM on March 6, 2006

this was hysterical. toothpaste for dinner is often amusing, nataliedee is always meh. married to the sea is awesome on a stick, beer batter dipped and slathered in honey barbecue sauce. posted by shmegegge at 11:13 AM on March 6, 2006

Sharpener - I've long wished someone would make a "Hot or Not?" style site entitled "Natalie or Sam?" for this very reason. posted by clango at 11:45 AM on March 6, 2006
hm, those livejournal links are interesting.
I too thought drew and natalie were siblings since they had the same drawing talent in their comics. And this new stuff is pretty looking but it's not funny. posted by puke & cry at 12:18 PM on March 6, 2006 [1 favorite]

It's clear they spent a lot of time making these. Maybe they should have left the drugs out of the equation. I didn't find them remotely amusing. posted by crunchland at 12:51 PM on March 6, 2006

I think it's more complicated. There IS NO NATALIE. Natalie is Drew. Drew is Natalie. It's all a big intarweb conspiracy. There is nothing to see here. Move along. posted by geekhorde at 4:02 PM on March 6, 2006
