Vaffledagen!

Today is International Waffle Day. All around the globe, people are lining up at their favourite waffle establishments, waiting for that wonderful grid-laden batter construct we all love. Catholics refer to March 25th as the "Feast of the Annunciation", but we all know that's really code for "Feast of Countless Tasty Waffles".

I like the way these Catholics think.

Yes, but are free waffles available anywhere?

I'm going to a waffle-eating party tomorrow. It was supposed to be today, but it got delayed.

(BTW, the real Swedish spelling is "VĂ„ffeldagen").

More waffle issues:

Flat (is that what they call it?) or Belgian?

Why is no one offering free waffles today?

I once knew a girl who, for breakfast everyday, put cheese and syrup on her eggo waffles. Anyone heard of that?

Also, thanks for the recipe link.

Can someone remind me which day is Deviled Egg Day?

Oh, it's Nov 2nd.

So, I definitely just tried that. Only one word is required to describe it... and that word is awesome.

Thank you, sir. You truly are a king among men.

Drunken --- I'm glad I did something good for today!

It was cheddar cheese -- she was very particular about that. (I'm not sure if she melted the cheese though.)

Waffle House is teh awesoms. Denny's and IHOP can suck it. And thank you for the obligatory link to Mr. Breakfast!

Happy VĂ„ffeldagen everyone!

In a fit of cruel irony, my campus DC has no doubt hid their waffle makers, as they always seem to do on weekends. (Bastards. What's better than a waffle on the weekend? Nothing I tell you, nothing.)

I just happened to be out at a diner with my wife and some friends this afternoon, and I was telling them how bummed I was that I had to miss National Pancake Day due to stomach issues. I decided on a whim to order a big 'ol Belgian Waffle with strawberries, ice cream, and a ton of whipped cream, which I devoured with much gusto. Six hours later, I read that today was Waffle Day. Weird. But delicious. So when's French Toast Day?

Oh. It's Nov. 28. Just one day after National Bavarian Cream Pie Day. We sure live in one happy, fat-ass country.
