obsessive compulsive watches for three minutes. posted by pointilist at 4:24 PM on August 9, 2006
Er, cats love rushing water; often they won't drink water unless it's moving. That's why they make those recirculating water dishes, and why some kids (esp. older sick ones) only drink when you put them in an empty tub and run a small stream of water from the faucet.
So this video is only cool inasmuch as the cat figured out how to flush. Go cat. posted by davejay at 4:33 PM on August 9, 2006
Er, replace "some kids" with "some cats". And no, I don't give my kids water by putting them in the tub. posted by davejay at 4:34 PM on August 9, 2006
I was amused... The cat seems very focused on his task. posted by uftheory at 4:39 PM on August 9, 2006
Too bad you can't put a memory on youtube. I once had an ultrasound-actuated garage door that a mockingbird learned to open. Sad to spoil its fun but at least I put in a radio-frequency opener instead of shooting and eating the ortolan. If it ever happens again (unlikely since I presently don't even have a garage and all the birds do to the car is [splat] on it) I promise to run grab ye olde wireless webcam. posted by jfuller at 5:05 PM on August 9, 2006
I have a bird that hops in the washer when I fill it up to wash. She thinks its her own personal bath. posted by UseyurBrain at 5:07 PM on August 9, 2006
Apart from drinking purposes, as davejay said, a lot of cats love watching and playing with moving water. I used to have one that liked to bat at the water in the sink as it came out of the faucet. That cat tried everything to try and move that faucet handle and get the water to come out. I think he could've done it if he'd had opposable thumbs. posted by unreason at 5:23 PM on August 9, 2006

Yeah. Our kitten loves watching water going down the drain in the tub. As soon as he hears the shower turn off he'll run in to the bathroom to get a peek. posted by notmydesk at 8:30 PM on August 9, 2006

At the moment I'm at an undisclosed location which is impervious to flushing cats. Please continue posting your replies to this thread so that it will still be in the top twenty comments on the front page of this website, so that when I get home and can access video and audio, I'll remember to click on it and watch it. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Doesn't matter what you talk about of course. Either cats or toilets. Just please stay on topic. Thank you. posted by ZachsMind at 9:40 AM on August 10, 2006

The highlight for me was when the kitty started teething on the handle. I could have done without the female voice narrating the event. What this video needs is Mike Nelson. posted by ZachsMind at 8:18 PM on August 10, 2006
