Go ahead and mock, but I'm warning you, watch the video twice and the stupid song will be stuck in your head.

Look, as much as I liked this, it isn't dislodging that "Chicken Noodle Soup with a Soda on the Side" thing. And believe me, I don't think I can go another day with that song stuck in my head.

That song is so stuck in my head! It's actually quite good. Cute video, just sent it to my young nephew who loves to cook.

waitwaitwait... what song is it you refer to, maryh? I think I may have missed a meme.

Reminds me of I Use Magic (.MOV file), but snappier, and with more pancakes.

Ah, MetaFilter at it's ostensible best. So I can mock? I have permission? Your tiny disclaimer irks me. You come across as something.... other than...

Oops! I thought you posted it, but chunking

I'm not going to mock it despite your permission!
posted by TwelveTwo at 12:31 AM on August 18, 2006

Right, that's it. Permission revoked. No one is allowed to mock, persona non grata fucked it up for all of you.
posted by jonson at 12:31 AM on August 18, 2006

I like this because the sounds and the images are so tightly wound together. Especially the eggbeater solo in the middle: makes it seem like the song was arranged from the cam audio instead of the video being made for the song.

You're warning me!? Get over yourself, jonson, FFS.

1) What does FFS mean?
2) Where am I warning you?

Oh wait, I see now where i was warning you. Never mind.

WTFFF!? he went to sleep afterwards? what an ass, pancakes are powerful and give you power! not sleepyness! he tricked me into thinking Invader Zim cartoons might somehow be involved, he cooked the pancakes for too long. ANd He has dark hair.

Too many unelaborated YouTube links at mefi!!! GIRRRR!

I'm with wumpus, someone needs to let him know how to make real pancakes.
posted by newscouch at 12:49 AM on August 18, 2006

I got nothing against pancakes and all but really my heart belongs to waffles.
posted by aubilenon at 12:51 AM on August 18, 2006

Five stars. Entertaining and educational. But the end result is more of a crepe, not a pancake. Not to this American, anyway. Is this European style, or...?
posted by zardoz at 1:06 AM on August 18, 2006

I clicked thinking this was actually Zim-related.

You have successfully wasted the 60+ seconds of my time it took to scan through that video and then write this post.

A music video about making pancakes? Seriously? An FPP?

I love/hate this a lot. And I'm way impressed at his flipping skills.

Something about pancakes.

Oh, man. Here I was expecting a clip from the Zim Eats Waffles episode.

Even though pancakes were not involved at all.
posted by neckro23 at 2:09 AM on August 18, 2006

He just made what we refer to in Finland as a 'lätty'. It's not really a pancake either. A sweet crepe is the closest thing I can think of...

They're delicious. I prefer them over waffles & pancakes, actually.
posted by slimepuppy at 2:27 AM on August 18, 2006

Unsettling. Shallow. Amateur.

For one thing, pancakes come in stacks. In between comes the ton of butter so conspicuously missing in the video. On top of a stack of cakes, goes a sunny side up egg, to make a one eyed stack. Over the top of that, goes maple syrup. Beside the stack, on at least 3 sides, and preferably 4 to 6 sides, goes crispy fried cased pork sausage links.

The only thing the doofus in the video was doing was making a mess in the kitchen. Nutella? Lemon & Sugar? One at a time?

Crimes against humanity, maybe. Certainly nothing to do with pancakes.

FFS=Flapjack film sucks. Sorry, jonson.
posted by emelenjr at 4:23 AM on August 18, 2006

paulsc is correct, but only to a point. Pancakes are different everywhere. Just because they are Best in America, doesn't mean a nice sweet crepe isn't good! Or a Dutch pancake, with ham and cheese (kind of inbetween American and French style). These days, I make mine with yeast, Belgian style, but thick, American style. They are nearly perfect.
posted by Goofyy at 4:31 AM on August 18, 2006

paulsc, to me, pancakes look just like the ones in the video, you serve them one at a time so they're always hot to eat, and you cover them in sugar and lemon, just like that guy. I call them pancakes because my family, my friends, and most of this country call them pancakes. What you describe are "American Style Pancakes", which come in a packet with a little flag on them and have the texture of overcooked beef.

Crepes are good, yes, but here in America, we serve them with sweetened fruit, whipped creme, and a side of bacon.

I watched it without the audio portion. "Mundane" fails to adequately describe. We have NSFW, how about NPWA, No Point Without Audio?

C'mon crash, if you don't like the direction the site is going in, you could always just not participate any longer. As long as you promise not to let the door hit your ass on the way out.

It's all right, I quit drinking and now everything's just peachy.

Except for the single-link X posts killing Metafilter.

Between this and the sartorial advice he's given elsewhere I want paulsc to be my valet, or my dad, or both. Haven't decided yet.

It's not the single link youtube posts that are killing metafilter, crash. It's jonson who is killing metafilter. Him, and the parochial, provincial nitwits.

I confess crunchie, I totally don't understand the last sentence of your comment. Are you implying there are a bunch of rubes here who are amused at the slightest thing, and that's what's bad for Metafilter? Cause I could see that point, but it's a pretty aggressive, elitist thing to say.

As for me killing metafilter, isn't that what you said about Miguel? After a while, you've gotta let a place be what it is; if you wanted a site that was run by you, with only people you approve of posting only things you approve of, I think there's a link to one on your user page.

P.S., I know you're only teasing because you have a crush on me. From now on, I will call you crushland, in reference to this fact.

Envy.

Crêpes and pancakes may look similar, depending on how they're cooked. I like really thin ones with apricot jam and butter, mmmm. Or with Nutella. That stuff is addicting!

That, my friend, is totally awesome. I love the fact that you essentially end up with such a high-resolution video.

As for you, crushland, hmmph.

I, too, was expecting something thicker but whatever.

The song reminded me of something The Rip-off Artist (I recommend "The Kids are Alright" or "In Through the Out Door") or Cursor Miner would put out.

If you're looking for a cooking song that will absolutely not leave your head for at least a week, click here.

I hadn't thought of putting lemon and sugar on pancakes before, but now I totally want to try it. With some of those bizarre crepe-like Europancakes. And fortunately, I have more lemons than God right now, having gone to the store to buy a lemon and found that they only had big bags of them for two bucks.

I know everybody was dying to know about this.
