The watch fetishism of old rich men usually disgusts me, but for some reason I need to own that backward Bolshevik watch. posted by afu at 6:58 AM on October 16, 2006 [1 favorite has favorites]
I don't see what's so impractical about the one linked to with the word 'impractical'. It would be hard to read in poor lighting, sure, but it actually looks like a nice, sleek design to me. posted by noahpoah at 7:30 AM on October 16, 2006
Impractical watch tells me it is 5:10 Happy Hour! This watch however uses local colloquialisms to tell the time. Very practical unless you never learned to tell time that way. posted by Gungho at 8:00 AM on October 16, 2006
Very neat link. Thanks. That is a pretty odd batch of watches.
The wooden watch reminded me of the first clocks made by John Harrison. One of which is stored at Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
