Everybody owes it to themselves to see The Billy Nayer Show's astounding The American Astronaut".
Some friends and I were in brief contact with Cory in regards to a large party we were throwing that was partially inspired by the spirit of the film. He was very nice and very supportive of our efforts. posted by deafmute at 1:49 PM on February 1, 2007

(Pardon the derail, but in case you didn't catch it in metatalk, it makes me happy to see a username lifted from "Beelzebub's Tales". Especially a hasnamus.) posted by Burhanistan at 2:13 PM on February 1, 2007
The commentary for American Astronaut is cool - he did it live standing in front of a screen. posted by 2sheets at 2:13 PM on February 1, 2007
God I loved seeing the Billy Nayer Show back when they were based in SF, and before Cory got married and happy. He's incredibly talented. posted by tula at 2:20 PM on February 1, 2007
Especially a hasnamus.
Slowly making my way through a second reading, this time with the revised translation. The name just kinda popped out at me (well, it was almost Ashiata Shiemash, but that would've been arrogant). posted by Lentrohamsanin at 3:45 PM on February 1, 2007
Yea - used to see the Billy Nayer Show back in SF as well, (20 years ago or something? yikes!); I recommend The American Astronaut to EVERYONE. posted by jettloe at 3:59 PM on February 1, 2007

Great post! I sat on the floor of a bar in SF and watched The American Astronaut on a big screen just last year, and at the Red Vic, and at least once at my house. Definitely a must see movie.
I didn't know that McAbee could be seen in other movies... look like he's been an extra in at least a few. posted by pkingdesign at 11:03 PM on February 1, 2007
