I'm trying very hard to imagine that the reason I don't get this is that I'm too stupid to get it. It's very possible, I'm not very smart. So assuming that I'm not very smart, can you please explain what I'm supposed to be getting from this? Because I don't like being the dumb guy in the room who's not in on the joke. posted by shmegegge at 11:02 PM on July 16, 2007

If I may venture, it seems as if Super Internet Fun Time is a posting vehicle for some friends or associates with much more time than sense, who post things they find on the net or invent themselves (drawings, proposed languages) that they think are humorous, but are rarely are more than mildly amusing and often pointless and devoid of anything that's funny outside their circle.
That is to say, if you are one of their club, you giggle uncontrollably at a picture of a man in an Ottawa Senators ball cap with the caption: Hey Buddee!. The rest of us just click away and never go back. posted by beelzbubba at 3:51 AM on July 17, 2007

I haven't figured this site out. I think that's cause there's not exactly anything to figure out. And that's OK. Not everything needs to be figured out. And this is just the kind of site that might come in very handy someday, in some unforeseen and as yet unforseeable confluence of circumstances. You never know.

Slogger, the proper vernacular is to abbreviate "There is No Mefi-Cabal". So, in effect, your sentence should have read "As an aspiring member to the MeFi cabal (TINMC)...".
This follows form with the proper reference to the anti-spam Lumber Cartel (TINLC). posted by thanotopsis at 6:52 AM on July 17, 2007
