Meh on the Om Nom, but the kitty is grand.
posted by D.C. at 9:14 AM on August 29, 2007

That kitty doesn't appear to have the teeth necessary for eating corn. Sooooooo adorable, though.

For those that don't have flash or can't watch YouTube or whatever, there's a .gif version of the second link located here.

Om Nom peaked when shopped onto the collapsed I-35 bridge a few weeks ago.

Just don't say it out loud. Unless you've got a white gold wedding ring.

I doubt the cat likes corn. But it probably loves melted butter.

I stopped clicking through because I knew that someone would make an "om nom nom nom" of goatse.

Thanks for letting me down/not letting me down, MetaFilter.

Someone trying to eat a metal cat in one big bite, maybe. *Kornnnnnnnn*!

I hope I wasn't the only one who, while clicking through those images, felt compelled to say OM NOM NOM NOM out loud and then giggle.

Au contraire. My mother's cat loves to eat fresh corn. She won't eat it off the cob, though, so my mother has to cut the kernels off and put them on a plate. Picky cat.

Arturus, I'm with you. Problem is, I'm covering reception today...

Faint of Butt: one of my parents' cats loved green beans. No butter, nothing on them. Just plain steamed green beans.

Had a cat that loved cooked brocolli -- just the stems, not the "tree" part. Liked it more than tuna, she did.

And that's the sound she made: "Om Nom Nom Nom..."

Also, she was afraid of bananas. I have no idea.

I'll never be surprised at what some cats will eat. Mine loved olives to the point where he'd steal them from an unattended salad.

Cats like their own butts. We're not talking the judging round of Iron Chef, here.

My cat likes cashews. I dropped a grape once and he played with it for hours but didn't eat it.

Mine too. ANYTHING, that has come into contact with olives is game (sandwiches and such).

btw... I once (drunkenly) let the cat eat as much olives as he wanted. Bascially put the unused portion from the BBQ on the floor. DO. NOT. DO. THIS.

Probably for the best. Grapes and raisins are on the "surprisingly toxic for cats and dogs" list, along with macadamia nuts, chocolate, onions, garlic, green tomatos, garlic powder, avacados, and mushrooms, etc. etc.

My two cats beg for (and get) broccoli and other greens. They go crazy over little dabs of plain yogurt.

How we have digressed. Anyways, good to read CAT NOMS advice and experience.

ObDigression: former housemate always put a little canned french-sliced green beans in her cats' food and they ate it up. Fiber, and vitamins, or something. Never would have guessed. Talked around it with the alley cats, it never really came up.

I had a cat that would steal corn off the stalk. He would jump up and hang from the husk until it ripped off the plant, then lug the whole thing to his hidey hole, where he'd rip off the husk and eat all the corn. Butter not required!

He was a big weird cat.

Is it so hard to type "Cat eats corn on the cob?" Cuz I would click on that.
