When lightning strikes!

Everybody has heard a story of someone being struck by lightning. People who survive such a strike can even join a support group. But if you do survive a strike, beware, as you will undoubtedly suffer adverse side effects!

I'm shocked people would laugh at such an electrifying story. Who's in charge here? I find myself bolting for the exits out of outrage. Atmospheric discharge.

This guy probably could have used that support group...

"According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Sullivan bas the dubious distinction of being the most lightning-struck person ever recorded. Between 1942 and his death in 1983, Roy Sullivan was struck by lightning seven times. The first lightning strike shot through Sullivan's leg and knocked his big toenail off. In 1969, a second strike burned off his eyebrows and knocked him unconscious. Another strike just a year later, left his shoulder seared. In 1972 his hair was set on fire and Roy had to dump a bucket of water over his head to cool off. In 1973, another bolt ripped through his hat and hit him on the head, set his hair on fire again, threw him out of his truck and knocked his left shoe off. A sixth strike in 1976 left him with an injured ankle. The last lightning bolt to hit Roy Sullivan sent him to the hospital with chest and stomach burns in 1977." via

My grandfather was struck by lightning twice. As a railwayman on the LMS it was an occupational hazard. Turned him from being an old cunt into an evil old cunt.

ROFL..oh god that was funny! Still, laughing as I write this...blooper fanatic here.

The reality isn't funny, even though just thinking about that video is still cracking me up. Photographs of survivors of being struck by lightning: Dude struck by lightning, blames iPod, Footballers struck by lightning , a gold chain and crucifix melted around his neck when a lightning bolt struck, amazing Lichtenberg figures on the skin of survivors, here and the best one here.

My dad survived a lightning strike ricocheting off a camping stove, while doing geological surveying work in Panama in the early 1950's.

I happen to be a fan of all the QVC/Home Shopping bloopers, such as the QVC ladder and the Shopping Network katana.

Does anyone have any more of those??

If I were to pick a favorite live tv blooper however, it remains THIS ONE!!!

I was playing a Kiss pinball machine inside a 7-11 when a bolt of lightning hit that flagpole thingy that they have on their roof.
The game went whacko and I lost 50 cents.

Thanks nickyskye! Those Lichtenberg figures are really cool. It's too bad that you get them from such an unpleasant process.

A psychiatrist friend ran a therapy group for lightning survivors, mostly stocked with one strike that hit a group of kids on Long Island. One in particular was really sad, always crying "I used to be smart, and now I'm stupid!"
