Speaking of robots, here is a trailer for Megaman the Movie, a low budget live action adaptation of the classic NES game. [sort of previously]

(Warning, the last link is experiencing bandwidth spikes, so may be down.)

Slightly higher def trailer here.

By which, of course, I mean the third link. Note to self: less whiskey before FPPing.

Wow, that looks pretty watchable! I'm amazed what "low budget" gets you these days.

I don't care what anyone says. That was AWESOME.

Oh man, did I see a brief glimpse of Protoman in there? The guy with the shades. PROTOMAN.

That was better than it had any right to be. Nice use of the Dark Knight score, too.

Heh. A friend of mine is the drummer for The Protomen. They've turned Megaman into a rock opera but made it much, much darker.

I don't recall Dr. Wily looking so young and, um, anorexic.

Otherwise, pretty amusing.

Sometimes I think that when Hollywood sets out to make a movie version of a video game property (or any other property from geek-skewing media) the movie studio should hire a fan consultant or two to help guide the writers and director in nailing the appropriate tone. The fan consultant should not have total power over the production, of course, but should be able to step in and explain why including something like, say, a sexy human female love interest who inevitably betrays Mega Man by poisoning him with expired meat because it turns out she was Dr. Wily all along is a bad idea that goes against the spirit of the source material.

Obligatory link to the Protomen. (NB: It is also obligatory to follow the link). Sourwookie, tell those guys to do a European tour!

That was awesome. If it helps you find things like this, by all means, MORE WHISKEY.

This not only looks completely kick-ass; it looks better than Burn After Reading.

What exactly is low budget? Because I want to know what it takes to make something so overflowing with awesomosity.

This was so much more professional than I thought it would be, given the "low budget" description. I want to watch the rest of it now!

Looked neat, but I feel like listing your youtube achievements in the "more info" box is kinda tacky. I was impressed by the costume design more than anything else. Reflective of the source material, but creative enough not to be married to it at the cost of real-world adaptation.

The trailer was just about as fantastic as any live-action Megaman trailer could hope to be. But I'm not that sure that the full length movie would be good. The fight scenes would have to be excellent, something I'm not that sure of, judging by the few shots we got in the trailer.

Well, it's on vinyl and they only made so many. They were giving em out at the album release show in Nashville a few weeks ago. I didn't make it to the show but since they're good friends of mine, they held on to one for me.
