Work by more than 20 contemporary artists from the Middle East is being showcased at the Saatchi Gallery.

"Their art isn't (like so much western art) about consumerism or celebrity or art itself; it's about suicide bombers, religious police, unending war, and the denigration of women in Islamic societies."

Sounds much better than the exhibition they were having. Thanks for reminding me. I don't know if the works you link to are illustrative of the denigration of women or at least the problems addressed are surely not exclusive of Islamic societies. Kader Attia's 'Ghost' seems more to the point.

Their art have still something to say to the civil society; most of occidental art is only about woolly thinking.
