I'm so whipped by cute animals

Puppy photo booth and the bunny falling asleep at the desk are the two best parts. I love this.

This is effective viral marketing, except that I had no idea what they were selling for the first (cuter) half. And after the second half, I'm not sure why I would want it, since I'm not a hedgehog bent on world domination. As far as you know.

Good god let me buy! Whatever it is I want - nay, NEED - to buy it right this instant!

This is why I joined metafilter (seriously). Hamsters and popcorn!! So much cuteness!

The hedgehog made my day.

The hedgie hiccup nailed me like a cannon of quickfired ducklings aimed dead at my snorgulus gland.

That was sufficiently cute for my needs.

My head asplode with the cuteness.

(Also, I think this is the first time I've seen Our Beloved Internet Culture co-opted by an ad agency and NOT wanted to puke blood with anger.)

First mefi is featured in Time, then the cute animals take over the postings. What happened to the doomsaying misanthropes I've come to love?

If they replaced all animals in commercials with hedgehogs, they would have complete control of my mind.

I, for one, believe that a world dominated by hedgehogs would be far, far cuter that the one we're living in today. In fact, i may spend most of the morning just saying "hedgehogs."

Am i the only one who thought the hedgehog was scary?
posted by storybored at 7:33 AM on February 20, 2009

The hedgehog was only acting scary. They're great actors.

except that I had no idea what they were selling

Yes.

Are ads even trying to sell anything anymore, or just keep us vaguely, constantly aware that there are generally things on sale somewhere nearby?

I like this new model. People get paid to delight me, and I walk away still blissfully unaware of products.

BUNNIES!!!!!!11111111111!!!!!!!!

I took a marketing class for work months ago, which aired that "herding cats" ad. Everyone thought it was great, then the teacher was all, "What was it for?" Nobody knew or cared, they just wanted cats. Same deal here.

Moral of the story: pet store ads get everyone's attention, and could actually like, sell baby pets?

BABY BUNNIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!11111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and regicide, I love the new model too. If only we could make companies keep doing it once they clue in...

once they clue in...

Sometimes it seems like a lot of folks in a lot of Creative depts. have scammed their employers in to funding the sort of short films they could never have pulled off in art school.

I hate advertising, but that thought makes me happy. Or maybe, I hate advertising - and so that thought makes me happy.
