I would no doubt be very impressed by many of those moves if I could at all see what he was doing. posted by echo target at 12:10 PM on April 15 [4 favorites]
I'm tempted to do a parody of this - a very shaky camera shows me reading a book and sipping tea for 15 minutes. With gloves on my hands. posted by naju at 12:19 PM on April 15 [8 favorites]
The video was alright, I guess.
Quick guys, let's turn this into a "Mirror's Edge is awesome" thread! posted by archagon at 12:21 PM on April 15
Thanks, utsutsu, I was very impressed (as promised). posted by echo target at 12:28 PM on April 15
Is there footage of him misjudging a jump and falling off a side of the building? I seemed to do that a lot while playing the game. posted by aGee at 12:32 PM on April 15 [1 favorite]
The show reel was 1e9x better than the original link. posted by DU at 12:32 PM on April 15
Parkour is loads of fun to watch, but only when you can actually see what's going on. This is very difficut. posted by Pope Guilty at 12:35 PM on April 15
Neat. That video led me to his great entry for American Parkour's "Practical Parkour" contest. posted by googly at 12:51 PM on April 15
Oh, I get it. Laugh at the poor kid because he put his snorricam on backwards.
You people are mean. posted by rokusan at 12:51 PM on April 15
Can't help but think it would have been more interesting if a helicopter gunship and a steadycam were involved... posted by nonliteral at 12:55 PM on April 15
I thought the show reel would give this guy's skills a breather from the cheesy soundtrack......not a chance. posted by doobiedoo at 1:04 PM on April 15
This man's physical capabilities far exceed my own.
Also, Mirror's Edge was tough, frustratingly so at times, but still a pretty fun playthrough. posted by owtytrof at 1:05 PM on April 15
In fact I'm pretty sure he's trying to escape from a relentless, ruthless maelstrom of cheese. posted by doobiedoo at 1:06 PM on April 15
utsutsu: "echo target: check out one of his show reels in the related videos."
Pffft... he puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us... *watches video*
...
I stand corrected.
In some way I'm glad I'm an out-of-shape 30+ year old guy; if I could do the stuff that guy can I would basically never stop. "Hmmm... I feel a bit tired!" *flip* *flip* *somersault* *grab coffee* *flip* *wallrun* *do a rad inverse 720 Shyamalan twist* *drop from a handstand back onto the chair* "Now I'm ready to continue coding!" *sip* posted by PontifexPrimus at 1:27 PM on April 15 [2 favorites]

My kid has wanted to get into parkour for a little while. Borrowing Mirror's Edge from a friend only bolstered his desire to do this. I will be such a proud father when I watch him jump from building to building OH JEEBUS WHAT AM I SAYING! Please kids, stop all this madness!!!!
I thought this was going to be about The Razor's Edge. I appear to have been mistaken, and made slightly quesy and confused. posted by From Bklyn at 2:14 PM on April 15

Okay. That was awesome. Perfect combination of ridiculously over-the-top soundtrack and amazing physical skill. posted by odinsdream at 2:51 PM on April 15

I sort of like his nerdy, obsessive, DIY approach to 'extreme'—somehow, the cheese-factor makes this guy seem like even more of a badass. In the FPP video, I was particularly impressed by the ghost-ride bike move; not just the physicality and timing but the shot too. posted by defenestration at 3:50 PM on April 15
Mirror's Edge PC is on sale at GoGamer today, FWIW.
I only played a demo at NVision, which was kinda fun but I haven't convinced myself I need to buy it. posted by Foosnark at 4:01 PM on April 15
Let's see how badass he is when he's got five guys shooting at him with assault rifles. I'll even give him a controller to throw across the room in anger when he dies for the fiftieth time. i'mnotbitteri'mnotbitteri'mnotbitteri'mnotbitter posted by chrominance at 8:02 PM on April 15
Now that I've filled in the blanks a little, and know it has nothing to do with W. Somerset Maugham, the outtakes are terrific and what denenfestration said. posted by From Bklyn at 12:47 AM on April 16
