Also, making little kids do the splits on ice should not be allowed. posted by SassHat at 10:07 PM on June 28, 2009
Wow, between this and the Star Wars Holiday Special, not nearly as awful as I was expecting, and I was pretty entertained.
Surprisingly enough, though, the animation of the Flintstones cartoon skits have much richer, subtler color than I remember for the Flintstones proper.
This also seems to perfectly encapsulate the "televised roasts" that were so popular then. posted by ShawnStruck at 10:23 PM on June 28, 2009
I watched this about 8 years ago. Never imagined I'd see it again. posted by unmake at 11:01 PM on June 28, 2009

Oh my god. Between this and Legends of the Superheroes... and the Star Wars Holiday Special... the Brady Bunch Variety Hour... oh my god.
The idea of B-list celebs roasting cartoon character suits while overlooking a court of scantily-clad ice dancers with bunny tails twirling and prancing. I can't help but think this special cost more to produce than any of the cartoon shows featured, some of which only having 16 episodes.
Legends of the Superheroes looks surprisingly a lot like the animated DC universe... except based off the old Batman T.V. show... and with comedy sketches... and sucks.
This is like a black hole of fail. How did we survive the 70s?

Wow~ that was a blast from the past. I remember watching the cartoons, but never saw the ice show. Kinda funny! :-) posted by garnetgirl at 6:52 AM on June 29, 2009
Speaking as a former "Disney on Ice" showgirl circa 1991 (and Baby Huey, and Mickey Mouse's understudy) I approve of this posting. posted by stagewhisper at 8:09 AM on June 29, 2009 [1 favorite]
There is something kind of disturbing about a person dressed in a big plush person costume. Especially when the top part of the head is made out of shiny plastic. posted by louche mustachio at 8:30 AM on June 29, 2009
Disco Showdown. Mediocrity at its most mediocre.
Mediocrity at its best, you mean. Seriously, that's some grade-A grade-B disco. posted by mediareport at 8:53 AM on June 29, 2009
Sent to my daughter who is skating in an international ice show. Thank you so much for a great find! posted by nax at 12:24 PM on June 29, 2009
