That Michell and Webb Look is a BAFTA award winning British television sketch show starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, that has currently run for three six-part series. The show follows on from the duo's earlier TV series The Mitchell and Webb Situation, and is an extension of their Radio 4 sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

"Big Talk", to me means that someone tells me why I should click on any the 100 or so links aggregated there. Is this an example of a "stunt post"? Seens like the guy is subject to premature ejaculation.

I don't know about you guys, but I never thought Mitchell and Webb reached the lofty heights of peep show with their non-Peep Show endeavours. Not that this isn't funny, just not Peep Show funny.

If you're looking for a place to start, Avocado Bathroom had a line (I won't spoil it) which made me laugh harder than I had in years. The downside is that everything else will pale by comparison.

I've said it here before but Peep Show, starring these two - plus Super Hans! - is the funniest and most awesome show on UK TV of the past decade. Channel 4 has some sort of BS proprietary video player to watch it, but fuck that - it's easily available as a Bittorrent download, all packaged up by season, 5 in all.

I feel bad for the poor guy who got so offended by Mitchell and Webb maligning his beloved PCs that he felt the need to add commentary between the ads.

Alien Invasion and Everything is Now Fine are two utterly devastating takedowns of the (BBC) TV news format. I wonder if news producers have enough self-awareness to cringe when they see these sketches.

Thanks for the intro to these guys! Some of the sketches are truly remarkable (Bad Vicar, Avocado Bathtub, Alien Invasion).

From the "Alien Invasion" sketch:

"And now, a quick update for those of you who, for some reason, are more interested in the news than what some people you don't know think about the news..."

It's funny 'cause it's true...

I was off and on for most of them, but I really enjoyed "Bad Vicar." I'd have liked it even more without the overt "joke" at the end; just the surreal conversation was plenty entertaining.
posted by Scattercat at 9:10 PM on August 25, 2009

There's a really good skit at the end of the first season dvd, where they sit down to discuss whether they need to have fake "candid" discussions that are actually scripted, then argue about whether they are scripted or not.. but i can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyone know the one i mean?

I can't find them online at the moment, but keep an eye (ear?) out for their radio series That Mitchell and Webb Sound, which is where they started before TV. I actually preferred it to the TV show. The identity theft sketch is supurb.

Brits can see more of David Mitchell in Would I Lie To You?, chunks of which are available to everyone else on youtube.
