Effect Games provides free, online tools for building, sharing and playing your own browser based games.

It's all very impressive, but it feels like a solution in search of a problem to me.

The games look way better than I would expect, but the animations are rough and the controls are even wonkier than most Flash games are, which is saying something. Maybe something which will improve with time? Could be, I'm just skeptical of javascript in a browser as a game development platform.
