Now get all your Simon's Cat needs fulfilled in one handy website. There's a new film (yay!) that would make Maru weep with envy, plus various downloads, as well as the inevitable online store and book. There's even an app for that cat. Sadly, I haven't been able to find a simple audio file of the PRRRRP! of accomplishment.

I want to say something intelligent in response, but once again I have failed to take into account the effect of cats doing cute things. So:
hehehe.... cat. heheheh... box.

Simon's Cat is the new Marmaduke.

Are you talking smack about Maru?

Pertinent to discussion.

few things in life make me happier than a new episode of Simon's Cat. Thanks!

I was going to check out the site but Pointycat jumped on the desk & wants to be petted and fed. So um, I have to go now.

Ok, I think I have recovered from Big box and Maru. One of the things I really like about the Simon's Cat movies is that even though there's a fair bit of anthropomorphization and fictionalization going on, the animator still successfully includes a constant stream of realistic cat mannerisms. They'd be nowhere near as funny and/or cute without that element.

As I watched the new video, my cat Maxwell kept shoving his head under the laptop and batting his paws about trying to find the source of the noise. Calvin, my other cat, shot him several looks of disapproval. He's older.

Hurray! Simon's Cat is the best. I pray to god that nobody decides to make an animated 3-d movie of Simon's Cat.

"I pray to god that nobody decides to make an animated 3-d movie of Simon's Cat."...

hmmm... I have an idea..

And, three of the four cats here came into the living room while I was playing this for the wife. #4 had already been sitting by the computer the first time I played it.

Love. Simon's. Cat.

That is all.

Also I have purchased the iPhone app because, honestly, one must support this constant stream of WIN.

The greatest thing about this is how he's managed to keep the tone even. He's not anthropomorphized the cat too much, just enough to make his actions readable. He's resisted the urge to "expand" the strip's little world, and he's resisted the urge to ascribe higher emotions onto the cat, making it either sappy or vindictive.

Actually, I think it's improved over time; in the first one, the cat hit his owner with a baseball bat to get him up. Things like that don't happen in later cartoons.

Well, after it happens once, you don't leave the baseball bat where the cat can get it.

Simon's Cat is the new Marmaduke.

This is clearly not true. I like Simon's Cat, while the continued existence of Marmaduke makes me weep for humanity.

The (ex)termination of "Cathy" is a ray of hope, though.

I started to watch the TV dinner one, and Sammy Katz came and stood in front of the monitor. The irony was lost on him. But not on me.

True story: as I was watching the catching a fly one, my cat Lexie was in fact bent on destroying half the living room in pursuit of-- wait for it-- a fly. He caught it and ate it and then fell over for a nap. Diddums! Who's a clever boy!

Simon's Cat is like this wonderful composite cat that is all my three cats in one. I love it. I shall sleep happy tonight.

That makes me happy. Thank you!

I love Simon's Cat, but man, combining Maru videos and the Benny Hill-ifier website I just discovered from the comments a few posts down? My evening has been made!

...That is, until I was distracted by my 19-year-old cat Pumpkin's valiant attempts to chase and catch a moth around the kitchen. She's still got it!

I had forgotten that a new Simon's cat video was out. Thanks for reminding me!
posted by immlass at 9:37 PM on August 19, 2010

Love it. Especially the moment where kitty falls, then just starts washing his paw like nothing happened, a cat's way of saying, "I'm cool. I'm all good." He's been taking notes from my cats.

Brilliant. This is an artist who truly understands cats. It's funny 'cuz it's true.

I just heard a loud crash upstairs followed by the sound of multiple cats running. Oh well, I'll find the damage soon enough.

*sighs, watches another Simon's Cat video, laughs*

I woke up at 6:30 this Sunday morning to discover a trail of cat poop all the way from the sofa to the litter box. Then the cat bit me as I was cleaning up.

I'm glad I have Simon's Cat to make me feel better about felines today.

My toddler deliberately makes mistakes on the app game to see the kitty reaction. He may have missed the point.
