Can you imagine the potential for a sequel? It could be his biggest hit ever! What awaits our adventurer on Floors 4-7? posted by yeti at 9:09 AM on October 6, 2010
I saw that video back in college when I was in a lab that required me to go in at odd hours. Guess who took the stairs up and down from the 5th floor each time? posted by phunniemee at 9:17 AM on October 6, 2010
I live in this building from the thirties that used to have an elevator but now it doesn't, because it's old and unsafe. It's one of those old-timey ones with a swing-out door and metal fence thing. It would be positively awesome if I could ride on it but I can't. I think one of these days I'm going to sneak into it (and take a picture and leave I guess?) if I can figure out which floor the cab is on and get a security torx bit to get past the little thing they're using to block up the doors.
Anyhow, that's all I can think of to say about elevators. posted by floam at 9:20 AM on October 6, 2010
Man, I used to work in a downtown highrise and had clients on several floors. I calculated that most days I would ride the elevators at least a half-mile. The appeal to just get in these things for the sake of it seems a bit batty to me. Also, with every ride, his chances increase that he'll be seeing Richter at the party. posted by Burhanistan at 9:46 AM on October 6, 2010
Drink every time he presses the close button insistently.
Finish your drink every time he says "nice elevator". posted by mhum at 10:01 AM on October 6, 2010 [1 favorite]

Did he never learn to wait for everyone to exit the elevator before you get on? posted by moviehawk at 10:35 AM on October 6, 2010
When we lived in Germany, the city hall had a paternoster. We would ride that as long as my parents had the stomach for it. posted by backseatpilot at 11:14 AM on October 6, 2010
