"Wired Bride"? Conde Nast is already working on it. But where is the real-life absurd media mashup "NewsBeast"? posted by oneswellfoop at 12:57 PM on November 17, 2010
You don't really need Town & Country & Guns & Ammo, because there is already Garden & Gun posted by hwestiii at 1:40 PM on November 17, 2010 [2 favorites]
I took this to be at least partly a mockery of the hyper-specialization of the magazine industry. I like to imagine that once upon a time people read general interest magazines, but now the racks seem to be full of Diabetic Bride and Baha'i Woodworker Digest. I gather that the celebrity gossip trade is a secure niche, to judge by the sheer number of entries in the field. If I were to go into publishing, I would take a cue from Jack Vance and call my celebrity magazine 'Interesting Activities of the Elite'. posted by ricochet biscuit at 2:26 PM on November 17, 2010 [1 favorite]
Surprised this didn't get more comments... I think it's great, if not for these mashups then for the blog in general. Glad to be introduced to this, thanks. posted by Rykey at 6:51 AM on November 18, 2010
