tl;dr for the moment, but I had fun skimming through it and seeing his take on comics that I was familiar with. I was interested to see his take on this issue of Alpha Flight; at the time, I got the impression that Byrne had come up with the idea for the issue as a way of catching up with his artwork (he was writing and drawing this and Fantastic Four at the time, and his art was suffering at times; he was also criticized a bit in the fan press). But it really does hold up well.
