My folks were pretty dang good at making sure that we understood that we would have to take the consequences for our actions and that predicting those consequences was an important step in making a decision.

When I look at my own daughter and recall the things that my parents "let" us do, I'mm absolutely astounded by the trust they had in us. We rarely abused that trust and ran with it to go on and do some pretty fabulous things.... [more]
