goleta is the good land, unfortunately im finding a hard time sharing your enthusiasm of what appears to be a pretty run-of the-mill enthusiast's web site.

goleta is full of fucking maniacs! posted by luckyclone at 11:52 PM on January 31, 2005
many of these photos were taken in the wilds of Inyo County
where the jets fly very low,and fast. Not only does he capture the image(difficult to do.try it some time.)he can identify the air craft and decypher the meaning of the various markings
The web site is huge and packed with historical aircraft
photographed in natural settings. If you feel you are missing something click on the image to get a higher resolution. posted by hortense at 12:14 AM on February 1, 2005
don't listen to tsarfan, he's a fucking maniac and these pictures are awesome! posted by luckyclone at 12:25 AM on February 1, 2005
Please note: The Goleta Air & Space Museum is just my web site. It is strictly virtual. There is no actual air museum in Goleta for people to visit. The Goleta Air & Space Museum is not affiliated with any other air museum, public or private.
from the home page. This is not about"Goleta" its about photographs. posted by hortense at 1:45 AM on February 1, 2005
Ummm... Still don't get the appeal. And, also, self linking is prohibited. Sorry. posted by Jeff_Larson at 2:45 AM on February 1, 2005
I love pics of military aircraft. Thanks for the link, self-promotion or not. posted by PossumCowboy at 2:50 AM on February 1, 2005
Hortense was quoting the web site (though he could have done a better job of it, like use punctuation or something), Jeff Larson, I don't believe it is his. posted by Eekacat at 3:36 AM on February 1, 2005
This site, though not the best designed, is obviously a labor of love and is exhaustively complete in what it documents. I particularly like the NB-52B walkaround and documentation of its many modifications and markings made through the years. The plane was recently retired by NASA after carrying research planes for both them and the Air Force for almost 50 years. The exact same plane is in this 1969 photo of a test pilot looking up at the giant bird that lofted him into the sky. I think it epitomizes the experimental spirit of that time in aerospace. posted by zsazsa at 7:05 AM on February 1, 2005
I used to live in Goleta. I am not maniac. I was, however, a Santa Barbarian. The panaoramic photos up on East Camino Cielo definitely evoke strong memories of my time in Paradise. *sniff* posted by WolfDaddy at 9:56 AM on February 1, 2005
I am truly sorry, kneejerk reaction. posted by Jeff_Larson at 12:49 PM on February 1, 2005
Sorry for the lack of "quotes"my bad.
thanks zsazsa, I really enjoy the panoramas of the east face of the Inyo mnts. at sunrise myself, as they are rarely seen.
But B52s are cool old airplanes. And thank you possum cowboy, but it is not a self link. posted by hortense at 10:56 PM on February 1, 2005
