Sounds like the Transsiberian Orchestra, but I can't place the particular song. Do they have a new album out this year?
Anyway, I wish I could find the reference somewhere on mefi, but this is a great example of a song with perhaps a little too much 'wheedly wheedly whee.'

"Ugh?"
Whaddaya mean, "Ugh?"
That's the opposite of "Ugh."
Whatever that is.

You do realize that this has been posted at least twice before? There was a claim of a THIRD post, but I haven't found that one. Enough with changing the filename and posting it again, already. :)
(Yes, I realize it wasn't deliberate, but still.)

From the snopes link:
The musical accompaniment is broadcast over a low-power radio station so that it is only audible to visitors tuned in to the correct frequency and doesn't disturb the neighbors.
Yeah, I guess the neighbors are blind then.

x10 has little to do with displays like this...as I pointed out earlier this is all about DMX512 (or even more primitive solutions). To not be snarky (heh, cause even I am tired of seeing this link now) here is a site dedicated to nothing but creating computer controlled christmas displays, with a large section of How-Tos covering a wide array of things like making the best animated GIF from moving light displays or an insanely scalable parallel port controller.

First off, fandango_matt, I missed this wonderful video the first two times it was posted, and it made my day. So, thanks for posting it.
That said--this is an excellent lesson in why your writeup should always DESCRIBE THE FREAKING LINK. Here are the other two write-ups in their entirety:
First: Ritual Adornment of a communal habitat. Light and sound combine to impress other nearby members of the species. The counterpoint to a summer of tending carefully controlled foliage.
Second: Tis the season and we all know at least one of these guys. (Windows Media Player req'd)
When the writeups don't give any hint as to the content of the link, it's no surprise if people don't realize it's been posted already.
