You're Gonna Make It Today: a reassuring message for these troubled times, delivered in the universal language of late 90's synthpop. [slyt]

Is the joke that none of them are playing an instrument?

Those were some fat lines. Of something that looked nothing at all like cocaine....

This is more akin to late 1980s synth.
When synthpop was AOR/FM corporate shite.

So, as you can imagine, this bored me to tears.

I made it 1:18 before the sudden, cleansing vom.

Just so you know, Sean Drinkwater is also a member of Freezepop. This song was written with more than a dash of kitsch and irony.

Those guys have evaluated many different possibilities and come to the conclusion that it's going be OK. I'm grateful that they have constructed a message to communicate the results of their analysis to me. It makes me feel better to know that it's going to be OK.

You know why you're going to "be OK"? 'Cuz none of that shit's gonna happen. It's likely that the worst thing that is gonna happen to you today is spilling that Starbuck's coffee on your dress shirt on the way to work.

If they did a song about how to get a coffee stain out of a light blue shirt, I would listen all the way though.

There need to be more songs about how to do laundry.

You know, lets be honest here if the "overlord" has enslaved your family and they're probing your brain with electron beams while you wash their feet with your tongue, and they ship you off to an asteroid to mine minerals...

You're probably not going to be OK, and frankly, you may not make it today.

But by all means enjoy those fat rails of sugar.

Hah! freezeframe at 4:29 to see what they're snorting

So the joke that I didn't watch the video for long enough to get to was that they make it through the day with the aid of cocaine? Well, that's very modestly cute, I guess. In the meantime, I'm currently listening to "I Can Dream About You" from the Streets of Fire soundtrack, suggested by YouTube, so it's not a total loss.

I just love these videos that are going viral. It's up to 970 views already. By tomorrow, it could reach as much as 980 or even 985 views.

I have no idea what's going on here, but life has reached the point where this is my new theme song.

What timely satire.

Take that, gakked-out no-talent 80's synth-pop bands!

I like it. Irony and all.

*ahem*.
It's not coffee stains, but a condiment is a start, right?

Is that Paul Snider on synthiseizer?

heh, I love freezepop. They have this strange ability to make AMAZINGLY GOOD songs, and AMAZINGLY BAD music videos. seriously.

Their latest foray: they have this song called "Doppelganger." So they made two versions with two music videos - literally doppelgangers of themselves. And they made a weird web page so you can play them both and switch between them.

yeah. i recommend listening to the music play in a different tab before watching the actual videos.

and both of those songs are covers of the original version
