That was surprisingly affecting. It's all but impossible not to impute a huge sense of joy to their cavorting in the water. I've lived near water my entire life but I've never seen ducks that looked like they were having that much fun.

I like how the gentle herding of them into the water quickly devolved into OH MY GOD JUST FLING THEM IN ALREADY.

"wait, they're not taking to this like a duck to water. clearly, A MORE RADICAL APPROACH IS REQUIRED" *flings ducks*

I would definitely enjoy flinging into the water any kind of animal that would enjoy being flung into the water.

Having just seen Jurassic Park, all I could think was "They're moving in herds. They do move in herds!"

Notice nearly the first instinct is to "duck" their heads under water repeatedly. I guess this is where the word comes from, or how they got the name.

Sad that they spent their entire lives living with some quack.

Your guess appears to be correct, stbalbach. Note that this also explains why "duck tape" has nothing to do with the waterfowl OR the "plunging into" aspect.

The hoarder’s initial intentions were good and her love for the animals apparent, but she neglected to see how their overcrowding, over-breeding, lack of shelter and space and filthy conditions were hurting them. She also continued to buy chicks and ducklings online and mail ordered to her.

Wouldn't she probably just keep ordering birds?

Curious Artificer, would it blow your mind to know that it's not called "duck tape" at all? Duct tape. For reals.

Sometimes that duck looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a duck is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin'... 'til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched quackin'. The pond turns red, and despite all your poundin' and your hollerin' those ducks come in and... they rip you to pieces.

The music was also a very good choice. Complemented the ducks' apparent joy well.

My favorite thing about ducks (other than their ostentatiously bright orange feet!) is when they wiggle their butt feathers and it starts at the tips of their tails and then suddenly ripples down their bodies such that the WHOLE DUCK WIGGLES.

wiggle wiggle wiggle WHOLE DUCK WIGGLE

Seeing animals find their way "home" is really moving. I work with the Wildlife Center of Virginia and they do a lot releases after rehab, this bear release was really amazing. Listen to the sound of one of the little guys 'scratching off' in the gravel.

Despite the comedy chase, the first part of the video made me sad that these ducks had no idea what water was.

So, even though I'm an atheist, I nevertheless hope there's an extra-special circle of hell reserved for animal hoarders.

Take your pick from Dante's choices:
1 First Circle (Limbo) - For confusing care for harm.
2 Second Circle (Lust) - For impractically loving animals in the wrong way.
3 Third Circle (Gluttony) - For over-indulging in flocks!
4 Fourth Circle (Greed) - Excessive hoarding!
5 Fifth Circle (Anger) - Gets a pass on this level....
6 Sixth Circle (Heresy) - For lying to yourself that the animals were better off in your care.
7 Seventh Circle (Violence) - Harming birds by locking them up in bad conditions.
8 Eighth Circle (Fraud) - Deliberately keeping birds from natural habitat.
9 Ninth Circle (Treachery) - See all of the above.

No pass on 5, definitely caused anger in others.

Echoing exlotuseater and others, I love how the ducks are all "Eep! Get me away from this weird substance!" at first, and then make it to "Wow, I was made for this. I've found my mission in life."

I'm surprised no one mentioned the reference to cat videos. Either it was too obvious or too obscure not sure which.

They were missing something their whole lives, something incredibly natural and essential to being a duck, that was finally provided to them.

I wonder what those ducks' attitudes towards the people who threw them in the lake? I wonder if it will affect those ducks' feelings about humans in general?

I wonder if perhaps people don't have their own individual versions of the Missing Lake, that they pine away for all their lives without even realizing it.
