Wrangling yellow, peeping kittens: A mother cat caring for some ducklings.

Best part starts at about a minute and a half in when mama cat needs to deal with a stray.

Note: title blatantly stolen from youtube comments.

Suddenly the after-effects of my rather stressful day have just slid away... thanks mama cat and peeping kittens!

It's fun to imagine the amount of deeply ingrained genetic instinct that's totally freaking out when the cat picks up that duckling. OH SHIT RUN NO EAT IT WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHAT IS GOING ON THERE IS NO PRECEDENT FOR THIS.

That's what I was thinking. "What the hell! Kittens have an off switch!"

If she can train them to use the litter box then having a pet duck becomes feasible.

There are big stupid happy tears in my eyes. TEARS. Damn you, and your ridiculous kittyduckling cuteness. Damn you all!

Trying to pick the ducklings up by the scruff is really the most adorable part, though the duckling cuddling under the front leg is pretty close.

Oxytocin, it's a hell of a drug.

Lack of interspeciessnorgling tag = unforgivable.

This is cute, but I couldn't shake the impression that the cat was not so much mothering the ducklings as she was tending her smallholding.

I have seen the aftermath of duckling imprinting and five years on it's not pretty. Duck shit all over the place.

Well, that says "Day 6". It was posted May 25, 2013.
There is no "Day 7". Coincidence?

I was hoping to see the ducks heading into the water and mama cat's reaction to that bit of fun.

Day One. 8 little ducklings and mother doing just fine.

Day Three. 6 little ducklings and mother doing just fine.

Day Five. 4 little ducklings and mother doing just fine.

Around 2:13 one of the other ducklings totally catches the blame for their wayward sibling as the mom loses count of who she's trying to discipline and just grabs the one furthest to her left.

The all smell like duck to her. It must be very confusing for everyone.

To be fair, our beloved great whales engage in the same behaviour.

In this clip, a group of fertile males surround a female who is not initially receptive in order to mate.

So let's put that dumb and mildly offensive "duck rape" meme to rest. Animals are different than us.

At first I thought it was a marvel of video editing that the ducklings were fast-forwarded while the cats were at normal speed. I guess ducklings are just that frenetic?
