Totoro isn't very Mucha-y, but Howl's moving castle is gorgeous.

I understand why Howl is the centre of the HMC one but am nevertheless miffed it was not Sophie (who doesn't even show up on the side). I still have very mixed feelings about that film.

Absolutely genius. Would pay for prints.

Excuse the dissenting opinion, but I don't feel they add anything to Miyazaki's already exquisite original artistry.

Disagree. They don't make the original better, but they are a nice take on them.

Well, I love Miyazaki and I love nouveau. So, there you go. Wonderful.

I agree - I would much rather have seen Sophie (who is the main and more interesting character). Howl done in this style gets almost yaoi-ish (too much sad-cute-boy).

But Totoro? His powerful personality refuses to be caged by convention and bursts right out of the frame. It's brilliant. I've saved it and will probably make it my desktop for the next year or so. I would buy a poster - are any for sale?

Now I want to see the characters from ¡Mucha Lucha! done in the style of Miyazaki.

I prefer the old art nouveau.

Could you imagine a whole film animated in this art style? Come to think of it, is there any art nouveau animation from the period? There's a bunch of contemporary stuff, student projects, etc. But anything from the time?

Also wanted: a poster for Grave of the Fireflies in the style of Picasso's Guernica.

Ironically enough, my partner did this kinda thing already.
