Taxi Dreams Did anyone watch the PBS show- "Taxi Dreams"? The PBS site is very informative. I enjoyed the video clips in the gallery . The facts and figures section was decent. Overall, I thought it was a great way to study the immigrant experience and the American dream.

this documentary was sooo scary - these guys sometimes work 24 hour shifts and some have never driven before, or drive like hell. It's gotten to the point that sometimes I have to tell cabbies to slow down and not drive so crazy. The worst part is that they make no money, sometimes they lose money.

Excuse me, may I nitpick, please? Thank you.

Is that actually a new development? I'm under the impression that cabbies being bad drivers is a problem so old it's a stereotype that dates from Victorian times and has been the subject of at least one sitcom and a few video games in recent history.
The worst part is that they make no money, sometimes they lose money.
The exploitation of immigrant workers is nothing new, either, but it's particularly sad that it goes on so blatantly, despite the taxi industry being a fairly tightly regulated business in most cities.
