Much sledding. So university. Wow.

The University of Tromsø, Norway, is the world's northernmost university. Finnmarksløpet is the world's northernmost sled dog race. Starting winter 2015, "dog sledding and the Finnmarksløpet sled dog race are now being offered as a part of their own university course for the first time ever in Norway and Europe."

"Students will have an oral exam related to a paper they write as a part of the course requirements. Both the paper and the oral exam will determine the student’s grade."

Unusual university courses is not a new idea.

Surely UNIS (on Svalbard) is the northernmost university?

UNIS isn't a degree granting university though, people come there from other universities to do specific courses or research. It is the world's northernmost institution of higher education.

If your university focuses on sports or vetrinary medicine, dog sledding's inclusion in a course seems pretty reasonable to me.

PS: Weather in Tromsø right now = friggin' dark, but warmer than Boston.
