This year's Anti-Bloggies have been posted. I won an award for a characteristic of my site that faded into relative obscurity more than a year ago, but hey, free gift certificate!

Finally - blog awards that take common humanity into account! The names of the awards themselves are worth the clicks. Great fun - thanks, nickd. I'm a very recent blogger but this seems the proper spirit/right stuff to me.

No, the bloggies are necessary, for without them there could be no anti-bloggies. We always cast a shadow, for we need the light to live.

With the Bloggies I had heard of those nominated but never read them--some because I heard too much about them. With the Anti-Bloggies I never heard of the sites, and never read them.

What cracked me up were how many sites I do read where folks were doing the "vote me for the anti-bloggies!" dance. There must be some irony in that.

I just wish that the bloggies and the anti-bloggies would collide and self-annihilate themselves. Though I fear that the energy released may cause some sort of massive disruption through the blogverse.

It would be for the best.

MKN, the phenomenon you speak of is known as Schrodinger’s Blog, first theorized by Derek Powazek last year. I wrote about it this year when, as co-creator of the Anti-Bloggies, I won two Bloggies this year and feared imminent self-implosion. A physics expert cleared it up for me.

And it's not like it's a serious contest. I wouldn't beg for a Bloggie or any other award, but an Anti-Bloggie? Why not? It's all part of the fun.
