I kind of like April 1st, in that I enjoy the creativity it sometimes brings out in people and (occasionally) companies. It's fun to have a day when you know Think Geek is going to post some funny products or maybe Metafilter will change colors or I'll go home and take a whiz only to find the toilet covered with Saran Wrap or whatever. I get annoyed when people are all "I HATE APRIL FOOLS IT'S SO STUPID GRAH GRAH GRAH." Jesus, lighten up.
The problem is, for every semi-creative endeavor or actual prank that works, there are 100 really dumb things that aren't at all creative and fool no one.
Like, you know, this.

I'm not a L337 cyber-hacker or anything, but I actually think this would be pretty cool.

Is an 8-bit Soundblaster enough for the phone to work? Or does it only work with a 16-bit Pro/SB16?
Maybe now I can set my IRQs by hand again.
I would assume that it's still I/O port 220 and IRQ 7. DMA channel 1, as well.

Good effort, but still not enough to make me buy a Microsoft phone.

Confirmed. Still not sure what generation of card though.

Just installed this on my Windows Phone. What a riot!
Was able to start the editor with "edit autoexec.bat", but was then stumped trying to figure out how to send a control sequence using the on-screen keyboard.

If only! I use the terminal on my android phone all the time. I've got a debian installed on there and everything. I use python or R as my scientific calculator on the phone. When I couldn't find an open-source spreadsheet app for android, I used the old 'sc' program. Having access to decades of applications is nothing to sneeze at.
Come to think of it, you can actually get dosbox running on an android phone. You've been able to do that for years.

I've skimmed through a couple things on this and i'm still not clear.
Is it just a joke interface, or is this actually something like DOSBOX? because it would be fucking awesome if you could use this to emulate old DOS games.
Also, it should let you take CGA low res photos.

On Android, DosBox runs well enough to play Fallout 1 and 2 on recent phones.

It may well be DOSBox, from the description, or something quite close to that. It's running a real emulator apparently. It may even be running real DOS on top of it.
In the comments of the link, someone apparently has Castle Wolfenstein running on it.
