If other people don't like my outward appearance, that's their problem, not mine.

Also, what the this club calls ugly, I think of as normal. But the club founders could be using hyperbole to highlight the cult of beauty.

I suspect my perception is inaccurate but -- it seems like there are all these Italian hill towns that are almost like uncontacted civilizations. They have some well-used cars but otherwise they're like a closed universe.

This can't be true, and in fact isn't true in this case, or how would I know about it. Still.

Reminds me of that Ted Chiang story about opting out of seeing physical beauty.
