The World Through My Eyes

Native American artist George Redhawk creates eerily beautiful gifs even though he's legally blind. With help from computer software, the designer utilizes the art of gif-making to show others how he sees the world as a man who suddenly lost his sight.

His use of the computer to assist in the creation of his art is a modern miracle. I'm also heartened to find that technology is bringing some degree of sight to the legally blind.

They are very beautiful; I think I like the bridge best, but the fifth one down (apparently made of hair) is straight nightmare fuel.

The eye of the artist has always been in the mind. Beethoven didn't need hearing to write the 9th Symphony.

But, I mean, he certainly needed to hearing to learn how to write it.

Is there a bird on my head?
Yes there is a bird on your head?
What is the bird doing?
He is on fire.

“It’s an artistic expression of the confusion I go through with my vision loss,” Redhawk told The Creators Project. “Not enough data getting sent to the brain, and it tries to fill in the blanks with false information, so you can’t trust what your eyes or brain are telling you.”

Apparently when there are blanks to fill in, the brain just spackles over the holes with young lady faces.

Charles Bonnet syndrome is a neurological condition where the brain's visual system compensates for a lack of sensory impulses from parts of or entire eyes by creating visual hallucinations. Visual artist James Thurber may have suffered from it.

Wow, these are gorgeous, although the last one gave me serious motion sickness, even though I looked it at barely for a couple of seconds.
