Of course it is The Toast.

Respect to the non-drac vamps.

Carmilla is probably one of my favourite stories. I recently re-read it and was like, "Yup, still pretty queer. I mean, c'mon, Laura, there is so much drama and bosom-heaving..!"

Oh yes, much bosom-heaving. "Sometimes after an hour of apathy, my strange and beautiful companion would take my hand and hold it with a fond pressure, renewed again and again; blushing softly, gazing in my face with languid and burning eyes, and breathing so fast that her dress rose and fell with the tumultuous respiration." I mean, really!

And now, thanks to the comments, I know there's a webseries!

Must give the Hammer films a re-watch.

Texts from Orlok would probably just be weird Zalgo text screeching.

I have to admit, Carmilla was very forward in terms of her desires. Laura had great composure; I would have been, "But we just met so maybe a longer period of getting to know each other as you are a very pretty stranger who happened to faint in front of my schloss?"

I had to Google schloss and I was worried it was a euphemism. Good news, work browser history, it is just a castle or chateau!

Aw. This is exactly how I met *my* girlfriend.

Dammit, why don't any lethargic, bosom-heaving vampires ever fall down in front of my modest bungalow?

As immortalized in the fantastic Briton Rites track 'Carmilla'.

Would a bit of framing spoil the joke? I really have no idea what this is about.

Carmilla is a character from the book of the same name by Sheridan Le Fanu, or if you are trashy like me these films.

May also pop up in Anno Dracula and the like.

You really have to read Carmilla to get it. The piece follows the story pretty closely.

When I was in high school, the story was that Dali was involved in the production of The Vampire Lovers somehow, but I can't find any evidence of that now. Was that just something some fellow horror nerd made up?

WordCannon, I'm surprised you cut off the quote so soon:
".. my strange and beautiful companion would take my hand and hold it with a fond pressure, renewed again and again; blushing softly, gazing in my face with languid and burning eyes, and breathing so fast that her dress rose and fell with the tumultuous respiration. It was like the ardour of a lover; it embarrassed me; it was hateful and yet overpowering; and with gloating eyes she drew me to her, and her hot lips travelled along my cheek in kisses; and she would whisper, almost in sobs, "You are mine, you shall be mine, and you and I are one for ever""
