I love these. The designs are beautifully rendered and in the context of otherwise vapid figurines they are completely charming and fresh, and now I want one really badly. Thanks for posting.

I recognized her style from her series of statuettes with the figures holding up hearts or decapitated. I'd love to have a row of those on my mantelpiece.

The designs are beautifully rendered and in the context of otherwise vapid figurines they are completely charming and fresh, and now I want one really badly.

But their unrepentant vapidness is the selling point: the porcelain lady is hollow, all ornamental, and all she does is stand around waiting for life to happen for her. It's why they inspired me to write about a hit woman whose trophy for each successful whack is to buy herself one representing the target she offed before writing a trashy and steamy novel as a coded report of her hit.

I always found them to be a nauseating and sexist subliminal, and these presented here are quite wickedly and cleverly subversive, yet depressing at the same time. The porcelain lady gets graffitied, but just doesn't seem to care or change her ways...

Oh, this reminds me of a swedish artist who zombiefies ceramic statues. I have one of her pieces, a nice little choirgirl-zombie.

I hope this becomes a trend. I'd love to see more little painted ladies.

Ahh these are beautiful. Love this sort of thing -- like the people who buy old oil paintings at flea markets and add new characters or scenery. Making old things new in interesting and subversive ways.
