The amount of work and quality features that go into that program amazes me. Of course, the only change I'd make would be to do the whole shebang in PHP instead of Perl. But hey, I'm biased when it comes down to that.

Movabletype is, without a doubt, the best internet app I have ever used. I installed it on my website and it works perfectly. It's seamless interface and ease of use (after installing) is amazing.

I can't wait to install MT 2.0.

This is probably a link better placed on MetaTalk under the weblog-related category.

That being said, I've been using MT since its release and have been very impressed. If the Ben and Mena decided to charge for it, I'd pay-up in a second.

Eyeballkid, what's stopping you from paying up now?

donkeyschlong... I've been on that list for months, thankyouverymuch.

MT2 Rocks. Seriously, impressively cool. I've been using it for a while on their beta program and I've been hugely impressed, not just at the quality of the product but with the dedication Ben and Mena have put into bug fixing, feature adding and generally being wonderful. How they found time to move house whilst doing all this is extraordinary.

Nice one guys.

[oh and people, they weren't joking when they reminded you to backup your entries before installation]

I stand corrected. :) But doesn't this moot your original comment?

I was waiting for 2.0 to switch from Blogger and just did. Painless installation, although the instructions could have been more clear. Awesome awesome product.

I've been playing with MT for a while now, and I think I may actually attempt to import my current Greymatter site into MT 2.0 due to the incredible spiffiness of it. And because I love the multiple blog support, the categories, and the fact that it's a living piece of software (unlike GM, which is more or less dead).

I thought the installation instructions were much clearer this time around--a lot of the problems I've had in prior installs were addressed in the instructions.

Now, all I need to do is wrap my head around MT tags (for some reason, I can't internalize how they work, drives me nuts).

As another satisfied beta tester: version 2 is a blast. I can't even imagine what they could add to it (but I've thought that before).

And FWIW, the trend towards posting this sort of link to MeTa instead of here has made me hang out on MeTa more often.

Just performed the upgrade and my entries carried over seamlessy. One site down, two to go...

Upgrade completed flawlessly. No need for clearer instructions or even the export/saving of my entries. MT2.0 is sweet.

I heart MT.

If you've never installed this before, you might not want to start at 11:30, because before you know it, it's 3 AM, and you're going to be beyond tired at work the next morning (just guessing). And if you are going to try to install it late at night, do yourself a favor and be sure to remember that the unix filing system IS case sensative.

Ben and Mena, thanks for all your hard work and dedication. You are outstanding in OUR field!!!

It took me less than five minutes to get 1.0 up and running, and less than one minute to get the 2.0 upgrade installed. Yay!

waxpancake, when do we get to see the blog?

For General Consumption: I've written a few hacks and mods for MT that you might enjoy. They're available under the category "MovableType" on my project blog: Works in Progress - - Note: Just putting this up here to be nice; I'm not trying to self-promote or anything ...

It's in development. Expect something within the next week or two.

The idea of writing a blog has been rolling around in my head for a while, but I haven't done it yet, partly because none of the blogging tools did everything I wanted. I'd planned to just write my own perl scripts to handle my blog, but never seemed to get around to it. Now I may not have to--I'll have to take a closer look at MT2. Multiple categories for a single entry was one of the biggies I wanted, which I see MT2 supports.
