A Fox In Space. A year in the making, episode one of this fully voiced and animated riff on Starfox has landed. And it is fiiiiine.

Two thumbs up. Funny, serious, a little noir element. I did not know this morning that what I needed in my day was 13 minutes of entertaining corrections about the name of Fox McCloud and his footwear.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, despite having only a meager grasp of the Starfox canon.

Is this all just one guy? One fucking guy??

(Well, no, of course there are others. But he seems to be the one person doing the two main voices, most of the music and sound, and all the animation. Wow!)

I thoroughly enjoyed this, despite having only a meager grasp of the Starfox canon.

Canonicity in Nintendo franchises (and most other games) is pretty loose. New characters and concepts get introduced in every iteration of Starfox, Zelda, Mario, but generally every game is at least a partial retelling of a previous one. With Starfox, you pretty much just have to get the concept of "Star Wars, but with anthropomorphic critters" and the rest is easy.

I love it! Feels like vintage Ralph Bakshi stuff.

I've never even heard of Starfox and I enjoyed this. It does all the genre conventions just right.

My only quibble is that I always thought Slippy was a girl.

That was actually good. Is this Starfox like "Do a barrel roll" ? It must be. But who would make this... why would they... I mean... so many questions.

...entertaining corrections about the name of Fox McCloud...

That bit reminded me of the best trolling comment I ever saw: "Do you think Metroid sleeps in his gunsuit?"

I know next to nothing about Starfox, the characters, the backstory, etc. I played one of the games for maybe forty-five minutes as a child in 1997, when my brother brought a (rented!) Nintendo 64 to the house for an evening. All I care about is that after 35 years, somebody has created the sequel that Heavy Metal deserves: Bored in Space.

I know nothing about this. I would have thought it was vintage 80s. The world needs more Cartoons like this.

wow, that was really amazing.

I just can't believe that the guy got away with this, with Nintendo only asking that he rename the series so that it wasn't called Starfox.

This was amazing. I cannot wait for episode 2.

Wow, I can't believe Fredryk Phox actually finished this. I think it's been something like 10 years in the making and the initial version was lost in a hard drive crash.
