A previous post of this performance had only photos without video. This post fulfills a request made in 2007 by hototogisu.

Bennink has long been a favorite of mine. Many thanks for the post.

Happy – and surprised, I guess – to see that Bennink still is going strong (cheesy or not) in this century. I know him as the drummer 54 years ago on Eric Dolphy’s classic (also misnamed) Last Date. [The album. The documentary.]

That's not how you pronounce Gouda.

(I'll show myself out)

And that's not how you spell Kees

Sorry, I'm a little drunk and this OP is making my head explode.

Drumkits made of cheese.
That sounds so Muppet, I'm honestly surprised Henson & crew never thought of it.

humboldt fog.

Well played. Redemption for the questionable puns, but certainly not for the German.

Favorited as soon as I saw the name Han Bennink. Off to explore the links now, but first let me recommend Misha Mengelberg's Change of Season (Music of Herbie Nichols) (AllMusic, Amazon, YouTube): one of the greatest not-as-famous-as-he-should-be composers in jazz history, with Steve Lacy on soprano sax, George Lewis on trombone, Misha Mengelberg on piano, and Bennink on the drums—does life get better than that?

> but certainly not for the German.

Well if it was German, it'd be capitalized. So I'd say it's kind of a Gruyerea.

Is this one of those non-edible uses of cheese that I keep hearing about?
