With 50 fun things to do in an elevator/lift, and more(not work safe), do we really need ads and infomercials to captivate us as we go up and down?
CNN and stock quotes would give me a headache. Popeye [WSJ sub] and Tom and Jerry cartoons would be annoying. The songbirds in Japanese elevators are better than Muzak, but how about a few moments of peace and quiet, please?

I kind of like the TV screens in the elevators. I work in the Sears Tower, and it takes FOREVER to get to my floor, so it's kind of nice to have some stock quotes or current events to read on the way. I mean, it's another way to advertise, sure, but it is entertaining. At least I think it is.

Not work safe? Bah. Text stories are always work safe, and that one was quite enjoyable. Thanks!

On the Sears Tower the TV screen has a stupid guy telling you facts....and then it goes into joke mode with you exploding upwards out of the elevator and flying over chicago...
and on the way down, a visual joke about the elevator breaking and falling
on an elevator
in the Sears Tower, where it takes 2 minutes in a really cramped space.

Yeah, i must agree that the elevator crashing gag is a little tacky in this day. I didn't like have to sit through that damned movie, either. (we were running late, see, and i wanted to see Sue, the T-Rex, at the natural history museum. Now my cousin is stationed in Germany and he won't be able to see Sue for the next 4 years or so)
Great story, by the way.

That elevator story seem a little less fake if the writer didn't work on the 69th floor.

I'm so immature. My favorite elevator fun is to jump up just as the elevator begins downward...it takes twice the distance to land as it does to leap up. Yes, I'm always alone.

A small, quiet laugh with which to start the day.
