It's a solid bit of optimism on the part of the shark that it's still holding on to the fish. Like, shark, you're not going to be able to eat the fish. It's all over for you. But ospreys nest near water. If you drop the fish, the fish might splash back into the sea and make it. It might have eggs to lay, or fertilize, or whatever. Just drop it. It'll be food for the next shark.

But no. Shark is just holding onto the fish and it's all, 'let's see how this plays out.'

Obviously this needs to be on one of those office motivational posters. 'OPTIMISM - perhaps this apex predator will fumble me and I'll be able to enjoy this fish for lunch.'
