¿Quién es un buen chico?

There’s hardly anyone who can argue with the popular saying ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’, well, maybe except for this special canine. A clever [Colombian] dog named Negro managed to secure himself a seemingly endless supply of treats, by paying for them with leaves. (BoredPanda, and a few more pics at TheDodo)

If you're a dog it's cute. But try to pay for drinks at a bar with maple leaves and suddenly you're a "thief".

Good Boy the Fraudulent Capitalist should check his canine privilege. Where are the cries to send him into his kennel for counterfeiting?

Teaching him to only do it once a day seems like the hardest challenge.

I read the twitter reactions to this expecting lots of Golgafrincham references. Instead, I found pro-market types saying things so silly, in the context of people happily giving away valuable things in "exchange" for leaves, that they're impossible to parody.

On the other hand, this totally feels like something the mice would’ve come up with as one of their science experiments on humans. “Make the dog pay with leaves and watch the primates hooting.”

I used to walk my dog to the bank and the hardware store whenever I had to go, and both places give out treats at the counter, so now he's will jump up and put his front paws on any counter availabe (thankfully he is very cute). Counters=treats.

Counters=treats

A seeing-eye dog once put his paws up on the Welcome Desk of the library where I volunteer, and his human immediately told him "Down, Joey! This isn't the bank. She doesn't have treats."

You SHOULD have treats...

Just sayin'

When I read that this was in Columbia I immediately assumed that he was trading coca leaves as some part of a sophisticated micro-trafficking drug scheme.

I'm relieved, but also kind of disappointed.

"Down, Joey! This isn't the bank. She doesn't have treats."

Yep, I have definitely said that exact same thing to my dog, most recently at the brewery.
