I think no one would be more amused than the Juggalos to discover that they are our last hope against government surveillance and/or robot apocalypse.

Just spray the cameras with Faygo.

Brian K. Vaughan's The Private Eye just keeps looking more prescient. I think it'll be fun to have a new cultural norm where everyone uses a mask or dazzle makeup to protect themselves from ubiquitous surveillance in public.

To be very clear, The Outline is not endorsing the creation of a Juggalo-makeup powered society that strives to avoid the utilization of facial data at all costs.

Don't fight it.

In the fascistic, post-republic American future, I expect quite a bit of cultural innovation and resistance to come from crazily-attired, proletarian tribe/gangs. As is often the case with juggalos, derided as they are, this just feels like a preview.

The article does note that Apple’s face recognition will still work even with Juggalo makeup on. I’ll leave it to the individual reader to decide if this is good or bad.

The style is reserved for Insane Clown Posse shows and other special occasions, like the March on Washington.

So this is where the worst timeline has taken us.

Okay, fistbumps to our ICP brothers and sisters. Whoop! Whoop!

Resist, and Respect, and Faygo forever!

The po-po's are going to use facial recognition, there's no stopping that. The noun is out of the verb, evermore; technology had made anonymity a losing proposition. And yet, Juggalos will abide.

I love how you- the man of twists and turns, knows exactly how many links to put in an FPP. Sometimes, most times, you do the most detailed intricate link heavy post with half a dozen above the line and maybe twenty under the read more.

And sometimes you find the most perfect single link and just let it speak for itself.

Bravo- srsly, you elevate posting to an art.

Absent a mask or hair obscuring your eyes and the like, you can't really defeat facial recognition trained on a specific individual to be broken by makeup since it's near impossible to break the identification of the basic eyes/nose/mouth measurements that are given the most weight. Should work well at greater distances, though, where resolution is somewhat limited.

The dazzle makeup referenced above is addressed in the FPP, as more of a fashion conceit than effective camouflage. Apparently, the key is disguising the jawline specifically, with harsh B&W lines. I’m assuming that hiding/shifting other outlines (cheekbones, forehead) would have a similar effect.

The most startling thing about this is that, according to the first image in the tweet, the facial recognition software apparently can't recognize Bruce Lee.

Although maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.

Amazon’s “Rekognition” tool has been piloted in the Orlando, FL and Washington County, OR police departments, and the company is looking to expand its use.

That brand name sounds like something the Gestapo would have named it. I wonder if that was intentional. Also shame on Amazon for getting into this kind of business.

Does sticking googly eyes on random places of your face also help stave off video surveillance facial recognition? Asking for a friend.

2008: "fucking magnets how do they work?" LOL.

2018: "Respect to and solidarity with our cyberpunk Juggalo comrades in the struggle against fascism!"

(I often wonder how I would ever explain the world to my dad, who's only been gone a little more than a decade, much less to the great-uncle of mine who actually fought the nazis the first time.)

Obligatory: "Dazzle Ships."

something the Gestapo would have named it

"Rekkkognition" might have been a little too on-the-nose.

Last September, the world welcomed Juggalos (or Juggalettes, depending on which you prefer)

Ah! An author that has no idea about his subject. How refreshing.
