Stevie Nicks And ABBA’s Frida Star In This Women’s Self Defense Manual. In 1983 Stevie Nicks starred in Hands Off!: A Unique New System of Self Defence Against Assault for the Women of Today. Written by Bob Jones, an Australian martial arts expert who worked security for Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and other big names, Stevie Nicks was on hand to showcase Bob’s nine “mnemonic movements”. Witty insults can also help fend off a sex attacker. Bob offers one line: “I’ve seen better knobs on toilet doors.” (Trigger warning for sexual assault as subject matter.)

I've seen a lot of instructions for kneeing guys in the crotch, but I'd never seen it broken down into Upper Groin Strike, Middle Groin Strike, and Lower Groin Strike, with three detailed drawings showing exactly how the Dowager Princess of Reuss could crush and rupture a man's testicles.

I think this was featured on an episode of the D-Generation's Late Show in the early 90's. With Jason in a mo and a gi. I hope I'm not imagining this.

I somehow thought this would be harder to find.

All a bit flashy though, isn't it?

Quiet efficiency, that's the ticket.

Best to strike in two quickly successive attacks, punctuated by shouting, loudly and distinctly, "That's my purse! I don't know you!"

My sensei always said "never kick higher than the knee; high kicks leave your whole body open."

That book looks like an Atari cartridge for a game worse than E.T.

I can’t be the only one who heard “Hands Off” to the tune of “Stand Back”

I had a feminist self-defense class in high school, but I guess that comes with being Danish. The weird old-times part was that the end of year event was that the soccer guys came over and were supposed to pretend-rape us, and then we had to not-pretend neutralize them.
I don't really know how to describe how that went, except that I ended up sitting in a corner of the gym chatting with my nerdy friends, because they felt uncomfortable attacking women, and the jocks felt uncomfortable attacking me.
