Take Me To Church except he’s practicing it alone in an empty cathedral

bassiter on tumblr creates specific music edits

for example:

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac except it’s playing through your car’s old radio cassette player as you drive alone through the desert at night. As far as you can tell, the nearest human life has got to be wherever that distant thunder is rolling in.

Island in the Sun by Weezer except you’re listening through earbuds while sitting in your office cubicle and typing up reports, trying to distract from the corporate buzz.

Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd except you’re sitting on the back porch of your Idaho farmhouse one evening, and just like every other night, you can hear it playing from the next house over.

Jolene by Dolly Parton except Justin McElroy is playing and singing it for you and your friends around a campfire on a summer night.

So, like, this is mean to lonely people on valentine's day.

mean to lonely people on valentine's day.

maybe, except this discription made me laugh out loud, and now maybe I'm not feeling so lonely.

Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd except you’re sitting on the back porch of your Idaho farmhouse one evening, and just like every other night, you can hear it playing from the next house over.

because yes as a matter of fact, I do hope Neil Young will f***ing remember

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley.

Blasphemy.

Not by bassiter, but one I heard recently is Justin Timberlake's Sexyback, except it reverbs like you're in a sewer, which someone on tumblr accurately described as "god this feels like im being chased by a serial killer with a fucking boombox blaring this."

Interesting concept. I would have expected some more of that tinny tape hiss on Landslide -- especially after having listened to some cassette recordings not long ago and realizing that, of course, no one touts the superior warmth or tone of shitty magnetic tape over digital like they do with vinyl.

Also, I scrolled through 10 pages and didn't one of the form Something (let's say Pony by Ginuwine) except playing in a gymnasium for a school dance and you're hiding in the bathroom because you're too shy to mingle.

There was a task on TaskMaster a while where the contestants had to collect the greatest number of tears in a given time.

I knew exactly how I would attempt to solve that one.

I just had confirmation that my strategy would have worked.

I can’t beleive I really, really enjoy something from a tumblr that has a Shawn-Lassiter header.

I find these clever, but universally unpleasant to listen to. Like the joke would be better onion headline style, actually listening kind of diminishes it for me.

I totally agree, French Fry. When I first came across these I would click on intriguing ones and then be disappointed. Eventually, I just admired the concept and tried to envision it but stopped actually listening.

I dunno. It's fun if you let your imagination go. I was thinking of open world video game scenarios.

I think they fall flat when he's trying to do too much, e.g. Dropkick Murphys/bar brawl. The simplest ones are the best. Sweet Home Alabama from the next house over is perfect.

What do you do when making audio to make things sound really.... wide? My computer does it sometimes when some weird audio driver gets enabled. I seem to notice it in some of the atmospheric effects on this.
