Man just reading that credits list in order was an emotional rollercoaster on how much I want to see this

A couple I know has been flogging this; they have a rental cabin upstate and this apparently filmed very near to it so they've been dining off that a while now.

Somehow in all their posts I missed that Tom Waits would be in this, however. (I think they were more excited about Jarmusch, Murray and Iggy Pop.)

Likewise. I got to the second name on it and was "take my money", then kept reading and ... Iggy Pop and Tom Waits in the same zombie movie?!

This reminds me that I want to re-watch Shaun of the Dead.

Who comes up with the money needed to hire that cast? Well, hope it does well.

So, between this and Only Lovers Left Alive, is Jim Jarmusch quietly setting up his own Dark Universe indie franchise?

And Tom Waits is starting to turn "old-timey prospectors and hermits" into a niche role for himself, I see.

It's a Jarmusch film; these particular actors don't cost as much as they would under normal circumstances!

Nearly everyone of those actors listed have worked with Jarmusch at least once (and several multiple times) and I'm willing to bet most of these folks didn't get paid their full price and did it just as much for the ability to hang out with Jarmusch again.

I went into this knowing I would like it, and Tilda Swinton, and Iggy Waits, and all that other stuff, and then all of a sudden...

Zombie-Carol Kane zombie-moaning "Chardonnay"

I... all the memes. All the excitement memes.

I never knew I needed Tilda Swinton as a Scottish swordmaster undead slayer... but now I know I do.

Not big on zombie, kinda been done to death, but oh my Tilda Swinton with katana and that accent, totally a must see!

There's zombies for my boyfriend and (surprisingly able comedic actor) Adam Driver for me - I've never seen a Jarmusch film, but it's on.

if zombie iggy pop and tom waits don't end up sitting across from each other with coffee then I'm going to be very upset.

Is this the first outright comedy Jarmusch has directed? I'm kind of hit-and-miss on the guy's filmography, but that's an interesting prospect.

If you aren't familiar with Jarmuch's movies, I suggest you get familiar with them. That cast list is entirely Jarmuch from beginning to end, and this movie is going to take place in his version of reality. Which isn't necessarily the agreed-upon version.

I look forward to this movie quite a bit.

Agreeing with He Is Only The Imposter. With this and Only Lovers Left Alive Jarmusch is turning to the horror side very nicely.

OH HANG ON WAIT HOLD UP.

You know how i said my friends' rental place was near where they filmed? I'm looking further into it and it looks like it's one of the 3 towns where this WAS filmed. I recognize the motel at 0:10, the street the cop car is driving down at 0:12 is about 5 blocks from my friends' place, and I think I even recognize a couple of the cemeteries.

Every Jarmusch film is a horror film. Your job as the viewer is to figure out how exactly it fits into the genre.

I HATE zombies, literally have never made it through a whole zombie movie because I hate them so much, and I'm actually feeling so attacked right now that this cast has been basically engineered to lure me into a zombie movie

I wish Jim had cast Zendaya in the ingenue role, instead of Sentient Piece of Wet Cardboard Selena Gomez.

At 1:07 there's a nice Dawn of the Dead reference.
Adam Driver's character says of the zombies: "they gravitate towards things they did when they were alive."

From IMDB:

[Fran and Stephen are observing from the roof of the mall]

Francine Parker: What are they doing? Why do they come here?

Stephen: Some kind of instinct. Memory of what they used to do. This was an important place in their lives.

cf: Robert Rodriguez productions/ with Jarmusch caveat/ Hiring a super famous actor for one day of shooting can be surprisingly obtainable.

Also, fuck, his last two films were pretty great - I'm totally looking forward to this.

... or the former Barney and Friends star may have had photos of Jarmusch with Dina Loesch. I'm just saying.
