That Looks Rather...

In a tweet this morning, Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer for Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky’s newest animated series, Primal. (SLTwitter)

The trailer is filled with various clips of action scenes, with various prehistoric creatures from different eras mashed together in a "savage world" vibe. The animation has the lush look that is Tartakovsky’s trademard, though much more detailed than his previous works - the design clearly takes inspiration from old pulp covers and adventure stories.

Looked at the title of this post and briefly wondered if it was a double, but no

Oh wow, I am old and a pedant. All I could think was that dinosaurs were extinct long before early hominids were wandering the planet. Fighting all the bad science around these days has ruined me for enjoying the cool factor.

Wow, this looks awesome and brutal. It reminds me a lot of Ricardo Delgado’s Age of Reptiles, too.

No - we have mammoths, sabertooth wolves, and snakes as well!

Reminds me of old Heavy Metal comics (maybe Richard Corben's Den?)

Deadline has (a tiny bit) more information:
Primal features a caveman at the dawn of evolution. A dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world.

I love Samurai Jack, it has very questionable science. I love science. I do not question the science of Samurai Jack because it is awesome, esp. the last season. I also watch and love Doctor Who. It is often entertaining. It has science that is often more than questionable. I will watch Primal. I have little doubt that it will unquestionably entertaining. My entertainments are often unrealistic. My reality is rarely as entertaining. Just relax and go with the flow of the science adjacent madness. Maybe just to get into the range give the gift to yourself of watching Samurai Jack or The Venture Bros. If neither appeals, totally cool, find what brings your inner 12 year old joy.

This is gonna be so freaking awesome.

The only good thing to come out of the Star Wars prequel trilogy was Tartakovsky's "Clone Wars" shorts.
