Muppet Jesus.

It's probably worth noting that the long-treasured album of the same name doesn't have much of a Venn diagram overlap with the television special. They sort of stand as rhyming but non-congruent holiday offerings.

This is also not the one where John Denver and the Muppets have a backwoods adventure, which my in-laws taped off the air and which makes my wife shout "Muppets camping!" when the still-functioning recording gets played as part of the Christmas nostalgia collection.

was it ever discovered why he stayed with the bowl cut

No bowl cut here (1966).

Wow, pracowity... that's quite something. I had no idea.

One reason this is so great is that John Denver himself had very Muppet-like features, so he blends right in.

I've decorated my Christmas tree every year of my life with the John Denver and the Muppets Christmas album playing in the background.

PIGGY pudding?

No, figgy pudding. It’s made with figs...and bacon.

wha?

Ah, how I wish for a better transfer of A Christmas Together. As best I can recall, this one has never been officially released on DVD, likely due to song licensing issues.

His duet with Rowlf is Peak Christmas for me. There is no more Christmassy moment than that. It breaks me every time, in a happy way.

Figgy pudding is raisins and beef suet, so Miss Piggy needn't worry.

Yup, watched this over the weekend in full throes of Christmas activity. Very muppety weekend with this, the Muppets camping, Muppet Xmas Carol, and Emmet Otter's Jugband Xmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year.

I've never seen the special but know the album by heart.

A staple of my childhood. Since age 7 or so, I started telling people that John Denver was actually a Muppet.
Animal shouting "RUN RUN REINDEER" is one of my holiday go-tos.

My parents had to hide this album until one or two days before Christmas.

They never forgave my uncle for giving it to me. I still love it.

Love, love, love the album, and cannot understand why the parties involved can't come to an agreement to release on DVD.

I am not a fan of Christmas carols, unless they're sung by Muppets. Also, the song about Alphie the tree asking everyone to spare some holiday well wishes for the Earth... I mean, it tears me up, still, to this day.

Reyturner, my husband's tree-decorating tradition requires listening to the album, too! Every year! (Because he loves me very much, we skip the goddamned terrible "Little Saint Nick" track, because my God, do I hate that song.)
