A Decade of Black Twitter

Say what you will about the garbage website I spend too much time on (and I could complain about it for days...months...maybe years), but using Twitter to engage with Black Twitter (a community I am not a part of) and Queer Twitter (a community I am a part of but often feel isolated from) has made me a stronger, better person as the rest of the world seems to collapse even more around me.

I've been trying the last few years to shut up, learn, and amplify. Black Twitter is invaluable for when I'm thinking, "This is great. Well, it sounds great. Is it great for everyone? Let me check."

Back in the 80s and 90s, Chuck D of Public Enemy (essentially) called rap music "the black CNN". I think it's pretty clear that Black Twitter is today's black CNN.
