I Used The Sims To Perfect My Apartment is not what it says on the tin. Instead, this 15 minute video from gaming site Polygon.com unravels into a bizarre meditation on depression, loneliness, and friendship which in These Trying Times scratched an itch I didn't know I had. (However, it will almost definitely not help you perfect your apartment.)

Brian David Gilbert is a joy. I always appreciate his deep dives into whatever gaming nonsense he's attempting to unravel. His episode on Understanding Kingdom Hearts (and every other story) is an absolute joy and requires no prior knowledge of the series to understand. It's highly recommended.

Brian David Gilbert is a joy.

A true national treasure! It's worth digging into his catalog; the one where he & a chef from Eater make every* recipe from Breath of the Wild in one day and rank them on how many hearts they should restore is one of my favorites. Also it's fun to be blown away by how different he looks with or without a mustache.

* He omits some recipes based on... look he will explain it to you, he will explain MANY things to you

BDG's journey to the perfect Pokérap is true high art

Also his pre-Polygon video Give Up On Your Dreams Of Becoming a Baker hits a little differently now but is still catchy *clap clap*

There are important emotional resonances, but I'm mostly pleased to see a gentle parody of ridiculous youtube projects. I'm glad to see something subtle. I think we're low on subtlety lately.

I also think it's easier to get your friends to show up and help when the project is something interesting. I'm not telling Gilbert that.

The days of spring will surely bring
The birds and bees cavorting
But since I am a gentleman
I’d much rather be jorting

Don't think I didn't notice the Good Place reference in the title.
