That looks difficult. I feel like it would be easier if you used some sort of specialized equipment...like a computer scanner or something.

Man, that guy would lose a few inches of skin doing that with my old cat

I would not do this without a thick apron, oven gloves, and a fencing mask

Results vary by cat:

Milo: 100% squish 7 days a week, lives for the squish, will yowl at you during Zoom meetings until squish occurs

Mystery: slight squish= !!alarm!! ***human agenda may be veterinary or similar affront*** autonomy threatened*** deploy THE FOOT KNIVES

Cats are pointy at five of the six ends. Not for squishing.*

*Some exceptions may apply.

My cats: “ fan-bloody-tastic. We heard enough ‘squish that cat’ the first time this video was shared. Squish squish squish, we get it. We don’t approve”

Me: “awwwww! Where’s my little squish cat?”

Pete Buttigieg really gets around!

The only time I tried this it worked sort of, due to the element of surprise.

Also, I know someone (who's on MetaFilter) with a cat named Squish. I thought this was going to be about that cat.

I don't know about squishing, but some cats are fond of fairly hard massage.

I have a former feral named Autumn who required daily medication for 3 months over the summer. (And her cough has come back, so she will likely require another course of medicine after we see the specialist next Sunday.)

I got desperate enough to search YouTube for helpful videos on how to give a cat medicine. This is one that came up. I tried the squish technique. It didn't work.

I think it probably works best for cats who are in that middle range of not wanting to be handled. You know - normal cats. If you have a truly difficult cat, then a bath towel is your bestest friend in this endeavor.

I also had to resort to what I called the "medical suite." I bought a wire crate intended for giant dogs, 4x4x5 feet, put it in the living room, and decked it out with all her kitty things. (Litter box, small cat condo, cat heating pad... you know; the necessities.) It was big enough that I could enter, close the door behind me, and then wrestle her into position for her medication. I never would have been able to catch her every day if she had been loose in the house.
